Natural Family Planning Pioneer Josef Roetzer Dies

Dating should come from a foundation of prayer and a sense of commitment.

Couples around the world owe their knowledge of NFP in large part to NFP pioneer Dr. Josef Roetzer.

Millions of couples around the world are indebted to one of the pioneers of research into Natural Family Planning (NFP) who died Oct. 4. Dr. Josef Roetzer, of Austria, co-founded the Sympto-Thermal Method of NFP, after studying 300,000 women’s fertility cycles.

“CCL (Couple to Couple League), other NFP programs, and couples worldwide are indebted to Dr. Roetzer for his tremendous body of work and tireless dedication,” stated the CCL International Facebook page. Dr. Roetzer, 91, was the official doctor in the State of Upper Austria in the 1950’s, and in 1986 he founded the Institute for Natural Family Planning.
