New Infertility and Nutrition Facts Revealed in Popular Book
(May 4, 2009) There’s a lot more information nowadays about how good nutrition leads to better fertility, says a leading author of a new edition of a book that draws from hundreds of studies on the topic.
Marilyn Shannon’s, Fertility, Cycles & Nutrition, ranks first in Amazon.com’s listing of books on nutrition and fertility. An instructor of human anatomy and physiology at Indiana University Purdue in Indiana and a Natural Family Planning (NFP) teacher, Shannon has now expanded her book to include newly-discovered facts about various topics, such as premenstrual syndrome, polycystic ovary syndrome, and even male fertility.
“I was amazed when I did the literature search,” Shannon said. “I knew there had been an increase in research on nutrition for fertility, but my search results far exceeded my expectations.” Shannon reviewed more than 900 journal articles for the book.
Reader reviews on Amazon.com were generally positive about how information in the previous edition helped eased cycle irregularities or helped them become pregnant. “What a fabulous book!” one reviewer said. “I have read (no, memorized) the second and third editions and become pregnant twice while following Shannon’s advice.”
The book, at 336 pages long, is half again as long as the previous edition and is available from the Couple to Couple League International for $18.95 plus shipping and handling.
Nutrition and fertility are two of the topics covered in classes in the Sympto-Thermal Method of NFP, and the method can be learned at 15 locations in the Chicagoland area. The next class will begin Sun., May 17 at Holy Family Church in Westmont. Email Chris & Debbie Lillig, or call them at 630-428-3046.
